MINERA TORO SpA.: EXTENSIVE USE OF BIOMASS IN THE SOUTH OF CHILE
EUBIA is glad to introduce its new Chilean member Minera Toro!
Located between Constitucion and Chanco in the VII Region of Chile, Minera Toro’s main activity is sand processing, in particular washing and drying of siliceous sand for the glass container industry. Minera Toro keeps its activity sustainabilie and environmentally friendly by using biofuels in its plants. A brilliant example is La Flora plant, including facilities for pallets production and ceramic tiles manufacturing. The wood waste deriving from the pallets manufacturing process is valorised on site, thus covering the entire heat demand of the plant. Biomass is also used in other facilities:
- rotatory driers for dry sand production
- boilers used in the pallets manufacturing with the purpose of drying and heating the pallets for certification needs
- furnaces used in the ceramics production
